Privacy policy
What we collect, why, and what we do not do. The short version: no cookies, no tracking.
Effective 31 August 2026

Who we are
This site is operated by Checkpoint Gaming, a game store at 321 N Main St, Clinton, TN 37716. You can reach us on (865) 269-4500 or at checkpointgamingtn@gmail.com, which is also the address to use for anything in this policy.
This policy covers this website only. It does not cover what happens in the shop itself, or on Facebook, TCGplayer or any other service we link to.
What we collect
Things you type in and send us
Nothing on this site asks for personal information unless you choose to send it. Two forms do:
- The Dungeons & Dragons player sign-up and Dungeon Master application. Your name, the best way to contact you, the days and times you are free, how often you want to play, what you want to play, your experience, and anything you put in the notes box. The Dungeon Master form also asks how long you have been running and playing games, your style, what you would like to run, and when you could start.
- The newsletter form. Your email address, and nothing else.
Form answers are emailed straight to the shop. We do not build a profile from them.
Things collected automatically
Our host records ordinary web-server information on every request: your IP address, your browser and device type, the page you asked for, the page you came from, and the time. This is what lets the site be delivered and lets us see abuse or attacks. We do not use it to identify individual visitors.
What we do not do
- We do not set any cookies. See Cookies below.
- We do not run analytics, advertising, tracking pixels or session recording.
- We do not have user accounts or passwords.
- We do not take payments on this website.
- We do not sell or share your personal information, and we never have.
Why we collect it
| What | Why | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Sign-up and application answers | To reply to you and get you a seat at a table | Your request, and our legitimate interest in running games |
| Newsletter email address | To send shop news and event reminders | Your consent, given when you subscribe |
| Server log information | To deliver the site and keep it secure | Our legitimate interest |
Who else handles it
We use a small number of companies to run the site. They only handle your information to provide their service to us.
- Cloudflare hosts the site and delivers it. Request logs sit with them.
- Resend delivers the form emails to our inbox, and sends the newsletter.
- SiteWise Websites built and maintains this site, and operates the newsletter list on our behalf. Newsletter addresses are stored there and with Resend, not in the shop.
- Google receives your IP address and browser information when your browser loads the fonts this site uses, and when the calendar on the events page loads. That is a request to Google's servers, so they see it. At the time of writing, neither sets a cookie on this site.
We may also hand over information if the law requires it.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies at all. No first-party cookies, no analytics cookies, no advertising cookies, and nothing stored in your browser's local storage. We checked this on 31 August 2026 with a fresh browser profile, including with the events page calendar fully loaded, and found zero.
Because there is nothing optional to agree to, there is no cookie banner. If that ever changes, we will add one and update this page before it does.
The events page embeds a calendar from Google, and the site loads its fonts from Google. These do not currently set cookies here, but they are Google's services and Google's own privacy policy applies to what they receive. You can block third-party content in your browser settings if you would rather they did not load.
How long we keep it
- Form answers stay in the shop's email while they are useful for organising games. Ask us and we will delete yours.
- Newsletter addresses stay on the list until you unsubscribe, then they move to a suppression list so we do not email you again by accident.
- Server logs are kept by Cloudflare on their own schedule. We do not keep a separate copy.
Your choices and your rights
Email checkpointgamingtn@gmail.com and we will act on any of these:
- Ask what we hold about you, and get a copy.
- Ask us to correct it, or delete it.
- Withdraw consent for the newsletter. Every newsletter also has an unsubscribe link at the bottom, which works immediately.
- Object to what we are doing with it.
If you are in California, you have the right to know, delete and correct, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share it, so there is nothing to opt out of. We will not treat you differently for asking about any of this.
If you are in the UK or the EU, the bases we rely on are in the table above, and you can complain to your local data protection authority. Our host and email providers are US companies, so information about you is handled in the United States.
Security
The whole site is served over HTTPS. We hold no passwords and no card details, because the site has neither accounts nor checkout. Form answers land in an ordinary email inbox, which we keep secured with a strong password and two-factor sign-in. No website can promise perfect security, and we will not pretend otherwise.
Children
We are a family-friendly shop and we run events for kids, but this website is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information online from anyone under 13. If you are under 13, please ask a parent or guardian before filling in a form here. If we learn we have information from a child under 13, we will delete it. Tell us at checkpointgamingtn@gmail.com if that has happened.
Changes
If we change this policy we will change the effective date at the top. If the change is a significant one and we have your email address, we will tell you.
